Instructor
Matthew Gourley got his start in photography in High
school at Manchester Craftsmen Guild at the age of
15 where he found his passion for the arts. The art
of black and white printing fascinated him and the
mix of science and creativity was the driving force
that kept him excited about the field. He attended
the Art Institute of Pittsburgh before going on to
assist photographers and managing One Hour and custom
photo labs. He has earned recognition from the Photographic
Marketing Association by completing the programs for
Certified Photographic Consultant and Society of Photo
Finishing Engineers.
Matthew is co-founder of Frame
1 Photography studio. With the digital market growing
as quickly as it has, Mr. Gourley continues to learn
the new technologies that are emerging in the field.
As an educator in the field, it gives him the opportunity
to continue his pursuit of learning in the field
as well as pass on his passion and knowledge darkroom
processes to ensure that it does not become
a lost art form.
